Safer Studio™ Policies

BDA is a Safer Studio™

  • BDA follows the More Than Just Great Dancing!® Safer Studio Guidelines which prioritize a hierarchy of safety and wellness measures including:

    • Wellness checks for staff

    • Frequent hand hygiene and good respiratory hygiene

    • Enhanced cleaning procedures

Water/Food

  • Please bring clearly labeled water bottles.

  • Food sharing is not permitted at the studio, unless otherwise specified.

Cleaning/Sanitizing

  • We have increased our cleaning frequencies and sanitation procedures in high traffic areas and high touch surfaces of the studio such as doors, viewing windows, barres, floors, counters, stereos, and bathrooms.

  • All high traffic areas will be sanitized between classes.

Bathroom Use

  • We encourage all students to use the restroom at home before coming to class.

  • Bathrooms will be available, and will be cleaned between each class.

  • Bathroom facility use will be limited to the one front unisex bathroom.

  • Bathrooms will not be available as change rooms - dancers need to use the dressing rooms if required.

Health & Travel

  • Dancers must feel well when attending dance class.

  • Parents are asked to keep their children home from class if they, or a member of their household have a fever, display symptoms of the common cold, influenza or other infectious respiratory diseases.

Safety & Inclusion Policies

Physical Safety

Dancers are required to observe the safety of their peers and BDA staff, including substitutes and contractors. Dancers are expected to ask for consent before interacting physically with peers and staff. If a dancer receives repeated warnings for unsafe behaviour in class, they may be suspended or removed from their class. BDA will not tolerate any risky or physically dangerous behaviour from dancers or parents in class, in rehearsals, while performing, traveling to or from its facilities, or participating in any associated events.

Inclusivity

BDA is an inclusive space that aims to create a safe learning environment for everyone. BDA will not accept discrimination, exclusionary behavior, or language that negatively targets anyone based on:

  • Race, colour, ancestry, place of origin, ethnic origin and nationality

  • Sex, sexual orientation, or gender identity

  • Family or marital status, or family affiliation

  • Social condition

  • Religion or creed

  • Political belief or association

  • Disability

  • Age

We encourage all dancers and their families to review our notice on inclusive language, and expect all dancers and families to use inclusive language to the best of their abilities. Any dancers, parents/guardians, or other studio guests who consistently use discriminatory, threatening, or violent language towards any student or staff member will be asked to leave the studio, with the potential to be removed from classes.

Accommodation

BDA can provide in-class accommodation to dancers within reason. If your dancer requires accommodation to participate in dance classes, please contact studio management and we will work with you to create a reasonable accommodation plan for the classroom.
